Logistics automation at a controlled temperature of -30ºC
Requirements
STEF, the French group specializing in cold logistics, has taken up the challenge of logistics automation in collaboration with ULMA Handling Systems. The logistics operator provides transport services, information systems and logistics services and with its current initiative it has developed an automated system for frozen products at -30 ° C, developed entirely by the company ULMA Handling Systems.
Proposed solution
Reception
The logistics process begins with the entry of the goods stored on pallets managed by STEF, which come from different suppliers, using 3 entry stations. These stations are linked directly with the automatic transport system.
During the pallet reception process, they are identified and their weight, size and height are checked to ensure optimal subsequent storage. In addition, pallets which are to be stored in the cool area and the frozen area are identified.
During the identification of pallets, those who have not met the minimum quality requirements, go directly to the automatic "reform", station, where the loads will be modified to meet the requirements so they can be stored.
Storage
The renewed STEF logistics platform has a storage capacity for over 7,200 pallets, managed by 6 stacker cranes (unit load) operating at -30 ° C, which are responsible for making complete output loads for despatch.
Result
Deciding to use ULMA's automation logistics will ensure that the cold logistics operator, STEF, increases productivity and consequently provides an optimal service to its customers.
