Logistical system at controlled temperatures
BONDUELLE
Bonduelle consolidates its leadership with a new automated logistics system made by ULMA.
Requirements
Bonduelle, an international leader in the frozen vegetables and canned goods sector has installed at its Estrées-Mons Plant (France), a comprehensive and automatic system for preparing orders and an automatic system for storing products in fridges and freezers, designed and developed by ULMA Handling Systems.
The automatic freezer storage area has the capacity to house 23,000 pallets over a surface of 3,700 m2, with a volume of 150,000 m3 and at a temperature of -18 º C.
Proposed solution
The automatic storage solution is formed by a total of 6 stackers with double-masts, designed to operate in frozen environments.
The installation also has an area for products coming in from outside and a direct connection with the production lines, through automatic vehicles, (AGVs). The dispatch docks, for their part, have a waiting buffer at a temperature of -18ºC.
To provide an efficient solution to the picking process, ULMA has designed an innovative automatic picking system that can prepare more than 10,000 boxes a day, thereby reducing to the minimum the weight of the loads that the employees must handle manually.
Result
With the implementation of ULMA’S logistical solution, Bonduelle has made a radical change to its way of understanding logistics, going from a manual and decentralised system to a fully automated and centralised logistical solution where the health and safety conditions of the employees are guaranteed thanks to automation.
