Automated storage and order picking solution
SALTO has improved its use of warehouse space by 80%. In addition, having several robots working simultaneously has allowed us to reduce picking times to a minimum
Requirements
SALTO, the leading company in access control, sees innovation as a key factor for the future. For that reason, the project developed by ULMA Handling Systems takes it one step further in its innovation processes, automating the entire logistics chain at SALTO's facilities in Oiartzun (Guipúzcoa).
Having revolutionised access control throughout the world in sectors where security is critical, today, SALTO is a worldwide benchmark in the access control industry and continues to offer the most advanced and innovative electronic locks on the market for keyless management of buildings, doors and users
Proposed solution
ULMA Handling Systems has designed a complete automated order picking system for SALTO's distribution centre.
The project has an automated warehouse that will be managed by 3 unit load stacker cranes with a capacity of more than 3,600 pallets. In addition, SALTO already had a small warehouse of containers, thus integrating a global logistics solution.
Both storage systems are linked via an automated transport system and have an order picking system with different picking stations.
Result
Thanks to the logistics automation project developed by ULMA, "SALTO has improved its use of warehouse space by 80%. In addition, having several robots working simultaneously has allowed us to reduce picking times to a minimum" said Santiago Estevas, SALTO's Operations Manager.
In addition, the system enables SALTO to improve the productivity of its logistics process, rationalise the use of available space, optimise its efficiency, improve the traceability of its products and, as a result, improve the service provided to its customers.
