Comprehensive automated logistics system
Automation has allowed us to increase productivity and substantially improve the working conditions of the employees themselves.
Requirements
The project was born of the Pharmaceutical company’s need to improve management of product traceability, increase production rates and improve its distribution services.
Proposed solution
The integral project comes with a comprehensive finished product box automatic transport system, which runs from the ends of the 12 production lines to the palletising station.
The whole project is based on the automatic palletising system developed by ULMA, which is designed to handle 18 different types of boxes that come from the production system. As Fernando Perez del Castillo, Lilly’s Logistic Project Manager, says, “automation has allowed us to increase productivity and substantially improve the working conditions of the employees themselves“. Plus, “now we have a better flow of materials and greater product traceability“.
Likewise, the installation has a temporary storage system (buffer), formed by 2 stackers cranes and a finished product pallet conveyor system, as well as the management, control and monitoring system (SCM) of the installation itself.
Result
The automated logistics system developed by ULMA has allowed the multinational pharmaceutical company to increase product traceability and improve its distribution service, and to benefit from significant savings on overheads and time.
Lilly is one of the ten leading pharmaceutical companies in the world and it bases its working philosophy on research and innovation.
