Bidafarma, a leading company in the sector of wholesale distribution of wide range medicines and top 100 in Spain, relies on ULMA Handling Systems' Movik Solutions range to optimise storage, replenishment and order picking systems especially for high-volume SKUs at its facilities in Madrid.
The project was designed to be flexible and combines three key operations: full pallet picking, picking of high turnover SKUs and picking of medium and low turnover SKUs. It also has the additional option of Batch Picking to optimise pallet movements. Everything is encompassed within the same system and managed by our U-mind WMS, a logistics software suite that works with operational information in conjunction with information on the life cycle of the installation.
The pallet warehouse can handle pallets of up to 1,000 kg, and heights of up to 2,200 mm, with the customer being able to choose the distribution that best suits him. Similarly, there are locations of lower heights to house the pallets that have been picked and thus free up space for whole pallets.
In this case, BIdafarma's facilities have a slave pallet supply system to ensure that the quality of the supplier's pallet does not affect operations, with the entire warehouse prepared so that all pallets can be assembled on the slave pallet.
